This is what we believe to be a heavy, late Georgian toddy lifter dating from the early to mid 19th century, c1830.  Toddy lifters, of course, were used to lift measures of toddy, a popular drink at the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, from a toddy rummer to a drinking rummer.
 
The toddy lifter is in excellent condition for its age.   This means, of course, that it shows some age related wear and tear.
 
The toddy lifter has a plain neck above a plain bulb which is baluster-shaped and sits on a flattened base.  It measures 15.5 cm (6.2 inches) in height.  There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.

This is what we believe to be a small, late Georgian toddy lifter dating from the early to mid 19th century, c1830.  Toddy lifters, of course, were used to lift measures of toddy, a popular drink at the turn of the 18th/19th centuries, from a toddy rummer to a drinking rummer.
 
The toddy lifter is in excellent condition for its age.   This means, of course, that it shows some age related wear and tear.
 
The toddy lifter has a six-sided flute-cut neck which flares to a plain bulb and a flattened base.  It measures 14 cm (5.6 inches) in height.  There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.
